1 -to clean o to wash?-
Nota d'usoI verbi to wash e to clean hanno un significato simile, ma vengono usati in contesti diversi. To wash significa “lavare” in senso generale, usando acqua e sapone (o detersivo), mentre to clean è più vicino all'italiano “pulire”, in quanto viene usato in riferimento a una macchia o alla sporcizia visibile, e può non includere l'utilizzo dell'acqua: Every morning I wash my face, ogni mattina mi lavo la faccia; Clean your mouth, you've got some crumbs around it, pulisciti la bocca, hai delle briciole. Fa eccezione l'espressione “lavarsi i denti”, in cui viene usato il verbo to clean oppure to brush: Remember to brush your teeth, ricorda di lavarti i denti. -
